For first blog, instead of talking about Galata’s and Maiden’s history, i will mention about the legend, their love story.
Galata Tower is in love with adorable Maiden’s Tower, happily this love is not one-side, Maiden’s Tower is also in love with gorgeous Galata. These two lover watches each other everyday without knowing if their lovers are also in love. Because there is sea stands between them, they are seetled in different sides of city, one in Europe, one in Asia. Neither Galata can hear Maiden’s nor Maiden’s can hear Galata. Thus Galata writes thousands of letters for years but can’t have chance to send them to his dearest love.
One day Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi mentions his dream to Galata, Hezarfen wants to fly over the sea from European side to Asian side and want to departure from Galata Tower. As Galata hears this, he becomes so happy because it is the chance that he is waiting for since long time ago. Galata asks for this favor to Hezarfen for taking these love letters and deliver them to beautiful Maiden’s.
Then,
Hezarfen flies toward the other side of the city over the sea, as he is passing near the Maiden, Hezarfen leaves letters and they are delivered to Maiden’s Tower.
Ohh those lovely letters, they make Maiden to see her lover is in love too. After that Maiden becomes more beautiful because of happiness. Galata ,who sees Maiden becomes more and more beautiful, understands she is blissful after letters and loves him.
Now you still can see Galata & Maiden are watching each other everyday, they have been standing with all of their beauty for centuries. What makes them that much stronger to stand for years? It is their GREAT LOVE.
Lastly,
According to another belief, if a woman and a man visit Galata Tower together at their first time, they will get married. So my advice to you, if you haven’t visited Galata yet, take your lover with yourself at first time 😉
