Soooo, i start with a brief historical information. The coffee has reached to middle east & Turkey(it was Ottoman at that time) in 16th century. Sounds like not that much old, huh? But listen this, even tomato has reached to that area in the 18th century. Coffee is older than tomato for our culture.

Then, what makes Turkish coffee that much special?

First ,preparing turkish coffee is different from other coffees. Coffee powder does not dissolve after being stired with boiled water, not like instant coffee. Also coffee powder is not removed after preparing the coffee, yeah, coffee powder remains in cup while serving it. This part is surprising people who are trying Turkish coffee for first time.

For second, there are different types of fortune telling in different cultures and there is coffee fortune culture in Turkey. After finishing your coffee, cover your cup, flip-flop it, wait and then let the coffee powder to show some signs about your life. If you want to see how coffee fortune telling is made, here is a video about it:Youtube
Another, there is a culture of meeting of couple’s parents to each other and asking for permission to get married.(nowadays it is more like perfunctory event, people usually know each other before this meeting). In this special meeting, future bridegroom’s parents ask to future bride’s parents to let young couple to get married. And in this meeting, Turkis coffee is made and served by the future bride.
